self portrait in closed sign
(we're not closed here -- just momentarily, um, not exactly abandoned, but...anyway, we'll be back on track very very soon, we promises, yes we does...)

The anatomy of a wave.
Here on the Florida panhandle we are catching the weather that is spinning off from Hurricane Alex and the Gulf is as wild as I've seen it. Not that I've seen it in every condition -- but still. I'm just sayin' -- it's CRAZY.
So.
I stood ankle deep in the Gulf to get these photos -- stood fighting the pull of the surf, sweating bullets, and holding my brand new camera with both hands.
And I did it just for you, dear reader -- just for you.
(P.S. I've not seen any oil yet at Destin, Fort Walton Beach, or Panama City Beach. Sadly for those that rely on the tourist trade here, the crowds are down significantly.)

he told me yesterday that he wanted a straw cowboy hat with a leather strap that goes under the chin.
we walked into marshall's, and there it was.
serendipity.
(the shirt, "body by Lamborghini," he took from his dad's old closet at nanny and pop's. vintage 1970s.)
